Our commitment
Rise Up DDS is built for every member. We are committed to ensuring the portal is accessible to people with disabilities, including members who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technologies.
Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This means the portal is designed to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
What we've built in
- Keyboard navigation throughout — no mouse required
- Screen reader support with semantic HTML and ARIA labels
- Focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Touch targets of at least 44×44px on mobile
- Text that meets WCAG AA contrast ratios
- Motion reduction: animations respect your system's reduced-motion preference
- Multiple sign-in methods: magic email link or Google OAuth (passkeys available after first sign-in)
- 16px minimum font size on all form inputs (prevents mobile zoom)
Known limitations
We are actively working to improve the portal. Areas under current development include:
- Automated accessibility testing in our continuous integration pipeline
- Expanded keyboard shortcuts for power users

If you experience an accessibility barrier, please contact us. We take these reports seriously and aim to respond within 2 business days.
The fastest path: sign in to the portal and send a message to your chapter steward. Please describe the barrier you encountered, the page it occurred on, and what assistive technology you are using.
